Server-side conversion tracking: why browser data is no longer enough

Blockers, ITP and cookie consent take a bigger bite out of conversions than most advertisers assume. Server-side tracking puts the data back into decision making.

Classic browser tracking depends on whether the script runs at all. Ad blockers, Safari restrictions and declined cookie consent mean a share of conversions is never recorded - and campaign algorithms then optimise against an incomplete picture.

What changes with server-side

Events are not sent from the browser straight to the ad platform but through your own server. The data is no longer subject to client-side blocking and you control exactly what gets sent.

What to watch out for

Server-side tracking is not a way around user consent. Consent mode still applies - only the transport layer changes, not the legal framework.
